OCEAN CITY — Ocean City Police arrested a former Salisbury University lacrosse star after he allegedly started trouble with bouncers at a resort bar.
Police arrested Kylor Edward Berkman over the weekend outside The Blue Ox at about 2 a.m. as most bars were closing. Officers on patrol earlier had seen Berkman, 23, being dragged out of the bar by friends. He had struggled against his friends to get back to the bar staff and appeared drunk, police said in an arrest report.
Berkman had already been ejected earlier in the evening from the 127th Street bar, police said, and had allegedly returned, shouting profanities at bar staff. Bar staff told police Berkman had been kicked out for allegedly “dragging a female by her neck across the dance floor” and then attempting to fight security staff, according to police.
Police watched Berkman’s friends drag him to the adjacent Holiday Inn Express hotel, only to see Berkman return 10 minutes later and allegedly instigate another fight with a bouncer by yelling more profanities.
Officers said Berkman’s behavior drew the attention of bystanders as well as hotel guests looking out their windows at the scene below. Police said they arrested him after he didn’t leave the bar when asked by both bar staff and officers on the scene.
Police charged Berkman with disorderly conduct. When he struggled against being handcuffed, police charged him with resisting arrest. He was later released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear Jan. 6 in Ocean City District Court.
