Transition is a coming of age film based on a true story.

High school junior Chris Jamison had it all. He was captain of the lacrosse team, had a great girlfriend, and interest from many colleges for a potential athletic scholarship.

In one diagnosis, it all changed. Cancer took everything but his life.

Now a senior, Chris looks to gain back his starting spot on the lacrosse team, although his body still feels the effects of the chemotherapy. Will Chris be able to piece together the life he almost lost?

Transition was written, directed, and stars Anthony Bradford, a former club lacrosse player at Bucknell. It’s based on the true story of his younger brother.  The soundtrack to the movie features Mikey Powell, who contributed a collection of his songs for the film.

While it’s very hard to criticize something like this with such a very serious topic, the acting in this movie appears a bit sub-par based on the trailer.  We appreciate the effort that these guys put into making this and we wish it success, but we’re not sure that this will be on the big screen anytime soon.

Also remember that there are two other big-budget lacrosse movies being released this year- Warrior and Crooked Arrows, along with City Lax – which looks to be a great documentary about inner city lacrosse in Denver.

Being lacrosse players, it’s also very hard not to be extremely critical of the skills the actors portray while playing lacrosse on-screen (think Ox and and Stiffler with the super-cradle in American Pie).  We can’t help but notice the lead player failing to extend his arms for his game-ending crank shot, and he seems to choke up on his stick with the bottom hand while cradling.  Then again, us lacrosse players can’t act…
