2009 National Lacrosse League (NLL) Top Draft Picks

30 Aug

NLL_LogoWith the NLL entry draft just ten days away, many believe that this year’s class is the deepest talent pool in recent years.  Below we’ll take a look at some of the top prospects for 2009.

The Rochester Knighthawks have the first two picks in the draft.  The latest buzz is that Syracuse alum and MLL Rookie of the Year Dan Hardy may be the top pick.  Fellow Orangeman Sid Smith is also a probable selection for Rochester.

In a league dominated by Canadians (65% of the league), PT Ricci is another top NCAA product that will likely be selected in the first round. The Loyola grad played defense for the MLL’s Washington Bayhawks this season.  Also expect Zack Greer (Duke/Bryant) to go early as well.  Greer was off to a great start in his rookie MLL season before getting sidelined by a broken hand.

Rounding out the other top picks include a deep pool of players from the predominately Canadian box leagues, including: Brandon Turner (Coquitlam Adanacs), Jon Diplock (Nanaimo T-Men), Erik Sage (Victoria Shamrocks), Kyle Clancy (Peterborough Lakers), Garrett Werschke (Calgary Raiders), Ryan Learn (Burlington Chiefs), and Shaun Dhaliwal (Burnaby Lakers).
