LXM Pro Lacrosse Music Tour – What’s it all about?

17 Aug

lxmpro_tourAfter all the excitement started by Hollywood chicks playing lacrosse at a BBQ pool party this summer, we haven’t heard much follow up on what it was all about.

The lax pool party (click for photos) served as a kick-off event for a new pro lacrosse league that is starting up called the “LXM Pro Lacrosse Music Tour“.  Lacrosse players Kyle Harrison, Xander Ritz, Max Ritz,  and Sean Lindsay were among the party’s attendees, in addition to some fringe Hollywood celebrities (Lauren Conrad, Lo Bosworth, Frankie Delgado).

Very little details have been released on what this is all about, but here’s what we know so far:

  • The concept is “lacrosse meets music and Hollywood”
  • There will be lacrosse players, dancing chicks, and dudes with guitars
  • It’s coming in October, 2009 (not clear if that’s when the new website launches, or if that’s when the league starts)
  • It’s got something to do with the 949 area code (which is Orange County, CA)
  • The LXM Pro Tour is apparently being started up in part by Scott Hochstadt

lo_hocstadtSo who is Scott Hochstadt?

He is a laxer gone Hollywood who is dating Lo Bosworth from MTV’s “The Hills”.  Hochstadt played attack at Maryland (’99) and founded Starz Lacrosse in 2004.  He works as a  consultant for films and TV producers on lacrosse scenes through Happy Madison, the production company founded by Adam Sandler.

Hochstadt played in the MLL and NLL for a bit before becoming the offensive coordinator of the now defunct San Francisco Dragons.  He has assisted in producing lacrosse scenes for the new 90210 television show, and worked on an episode of “House” that featured a lacrosse player in it.
