UnderArmour Announces New $450 Lacrosse Mouthpiece

A few weeks ago we wrote a post about how expensive lacrosse equipment is becoming. It looks like we might need to revise that post and add another $450 to the bill.
UnderArmour has announced that they are now offering a new athletic mouthpiece that costs $450. They claim that the new mouth gear will improve athletic performance through “ArmourBite Technology”, which prevents an athlete’s teeth from clenching.
“Clenching triggers the production of stress hormones such as cortisol, which cause fatigue and can hurt an athlete’s performance”, the company said.
The mouth products, which are custom-made, can only be bought through Patterson Dental and will be available at the end of the month.
The Baltimore Sun asked the chief physician of the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens, Andrew Tucker, about the new mouthpiece. Tucker stated: “I want to keep an open mind about it, but haven’t seen the research that supports it…”
