Drexel Lacrosse Coach, Chris Bates

There’s been no shortage of speculation around the Princeton Lacrosse head coaching position ever since Bill Tierney announced his resignation.  Princeton has not officially stated any names of candidates, so all information around the matter has been from “sources close to the situation”.

The Daily Princetonian is now reporting that Princeton has offered the head coaching position to Chris Bates, head coach of the Drexel lacrosse team.

While nothing has been confirmed, a final announcement is imminent, and all signs indicate that Bates would accept the offer.  If he does, it is very probably he would bring along his assistant, Greg Raymond.  Raymond was the assistant at Princeton for three years, before leaving last season to coach with Bates at Drexel.

InsideLacrosse.com reported that Cornell assistant Ben DeLuca withdrew from consideration on Saturday despite being Princeton’s top choice.

We expect that the official announcement will be made later today, or tomorrow.
